Sabine from Baden-Wuerttemberg sent me this beautiful postcard through Postcrossing. She lives close to Lake Constance and it doesn't take too long for her to get to Switzerland and Austria either!
My SparkPeople friend Barbara sent me another postcard from her travels. She picked this one up in Montana and it shows Yellowstone Valley, which is just north of Yellowstone National Park. I'd love to visit one day!
Yen-Chiu from Taiwan sent me this colorful postcard from Taiwan via Postcrossing. The card shows the decorations on the roof of his local temple. Doesn't it look great?! And check out the beautiful stamps on his postcard! My favorite is the one with the pink flowers... :)
I received another postcard from my friend Barbara through SparkPeople the other day. She was so nice to think of me while she was traveling and picked this card up at the Minneapolis airport for me. This way, I get to cross another US state off my list. Thanks Barbara!
Thanks to Postcrosser Linda from Yuma, Arizona, I get to cross another US state off my list! This beautiful card shows Tonto National Forest during a summer storm. Don't you just love the colors?!
Linda also did great choosing stamps, I especially love the one with the green car about going green by sharing rides!
After receiving my third postcard from Germany the other day, I've decided to add another goal to my postcard project. Previously, my goals were to a) collect a postcard from every country in the world and b) also collect postcards from all of the 50 states of the US. I've now added a third goal: to collect postcards from all of the 16 states (or Bundesländer as they are called in German) that make up Germany.
Cornelia from Bremen sent me this postcard through Postcrossing. Bremen is one of three cities in Germany that is both a city and a state. I recently visited Bremen as it is not too far from Hamburg and really enjoyed my stay there. It's definitely worth a visit! Cornelia also put a cute stamp on the card, enjoy!
Karin from the Netherlands sent me this pretty postcard via Postcrossing. It shows a very pretty castle in her hometown of 's Hertogenbosch. I also like the stamps she put on the card, especially the one of Queen Beatrix. Thanks Karin!
I received my second postcard from Germany a few days ago. Postcrossing member Andrea lives close to Lake Constance and sent me this beautiful card showing some views from the charming towns in the area.
I recently received my first postcard from Germany! Nicci sent it to me from her hometown of Wuppertal via Postcrossing. She might actually send me another postcard because she accidently mailed the card that was intended for me to China and promised to send me a replacement. Thanks Nicci, I'm looking forward to hearing from you again!
Corinne, a fellow Postcrossing member from New Hampshire, sent me this card. The beautiful art card shows NYC, which is why I have decided to classify it as an entry for New York. Now I "only" have 48 more states to go. :)
This postcard was sent to me by fellow SparkPeople member Barbara from Iowa with whom I have arranged a private swap. It shows a view of the Mississippi and is my first "real" postcard from the US. I said "real" because it's the first card from the US to actually show a place in the states. One down, forty-nine to go... Thanks Barbara, I can't wait for the other postcards you're going to send me!
I received a few postcards over the weekend, so I really need to get caught up with posting them... First one up is from Julie in Australia.
I met Julie on SparkPeople, an awesome free diet website I joined to lose weight for my wedding. I met lots of great people on there and the support from the community is amazing. I posted a blog about my postcard project on there and Julie volunteered to help me out and send me a postcard. Don't you just love the view on that card?! The stamp is also very beautiful, thanks Julie!
I received this postcard from my aunt today. She's currently on holiday on Tenerife, one of the Canary Islands. My parents have told her about my project, so she decided to help me out! She also picked out a nice butterfly stamp that I'd like to share with you guys.
I found this little gem from Salla in my mailbox today. She is a Postcrossing member from Finland and the card she sent me shows an exhibit from a 2006 art exhibition. Salla also picked a beautiful artsy stamp, enjoy!
Today, I found another Postcrossing postcard in my mailbox. The card shows The Convention and Exhibition Centre in Hong Kong and Kira from Florida picked it up during her trip to Hong Kong in 2005.
At first I was unsure how to categorize this postcard because it was technically sent from the US. But since I'm collecting the postcard itself, I have decided to always go with what the card shows, which is why I labeled it as Hong Kong.
I also really liked the stamp she put on the postcard because polar bears are my favorite animals. Thanks Kira!
I could hardly contain my excitement when I opened my mailbox today because I saw that my first Postcrossing postcard had arrived! Chally from Australia sent me this card showing the Victorian Arts Centre in Melbourne.
I received this postcard from my parents last week. They retired earlier this year and are now spending a lot of time traveling. They chose to send me this card during the first stop of their Caribbean cruise in Puerto Rico when they visited Fort San Cristóbal in San Juan. I also have an image of the stamp for you, here you go!
I received this postcard from my friend Romy not too long ago. She was visiting Vietnam and Cambodia and was kind enough to send me a postcard. What I like best about this one is that she didn't mail it until she came to Cambodia, so check out these cool stamps!
I've collected postcards wherever I went for as long as I can think and already have a pretty impressive collection. However, there are so many places I haven't been to yet, so I thought it would be nice to at least have a postcard even if I never get there in person. Therefore, I recently decided to sign up to Postcrossing, a postcard crossing project that enables you to send and receive postcards from people all over the world.
I decided to start this blog to record the postcards I receive from the other Postcrossing members as well as friends and family. My goal is to collect a postcard from every country in the world and each of the fifty states of the US. I'll probably add more goals as I go but this is it for now!
Follow my progress on this blog and feel free to send me a postcard to help me reach my goals. Just email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I'll send you my address!
